The Deer Manager's

Countryside and Deer Experience Course

The Deer Manager, approved provider

What the course includes:

Your Blackdown Stalking experience will offer a hands-on opportunity to try Countryside activities in the company of Peter Samways - a British Deer Society Advanced Stalker and Marksman and Deer Manager - and his team of Instructors and Rangers.

Their skills range from tracking to teambuilding, from Photography to bush survival techniques and from larder work (skinning game and butchery) to culinary genius, all of which will be on offer together with many more activities during your stay.

You will receive training in Deer Stalking and all the equipment used. This will include deer recognition, the supervised handling of firearms, ballistics, safety procedures and practical range firing where appropriate.

You will have the thrill of getting ‘up-close and personal’ with some of the most timid and rarely seen of animals thanks to the skill of a Qualified Stalker. Take the chance to track and get close to your quarry before taking your ‘shot’ of a lifetime to capture this unique experience on film. You will learn about the secret world of Deer and many other species that we see in the day to day management on the Estates and Farms we look after.

You will need to be fit enough to walk 2 miles in 30 minutes over rough ground and you must be able to keep quiet and still for up to half an hour at a time during stalking sessions.

Good eyesight (with glasses if worn) and being quick to learn will be an advantage - and so will being prepared to put up with anything the elements might chuck at you - day or night, if you are brave enough to have a go!.

This is a real hands on country experience that will enhance your knowledge of our UK flora and fauna.

If your target is a unique learning experience that you will remember forever - set your sights on Blackdown Stalking - we always aim to please!
